The Rákóczi Castle located on the shore of the Bodrogköz was built in Late-Renaissance style and later became center of the royal n the middle of the 1500’s, was built in late-Renaissance style, which became the center of the Rákóczi principality due to the marriagee of György Rákóczi I and Zsuzsanna Lorántffy. The Rákóczi Museum of the Hungarian National Museum, the most important Rákóczi cultura center, is located here.
The Great Library is housed in the Sárospatak Christian Reformed College, whose green room will impress its visitors with its impressive design by Mihály Pollack assembly hall still impresses impressive design: the star patterned floor, the majestic Doric columns supporting the galleries, frescoes, as well the storage scaffold, like it was designed by the Pollack raktárállványzat. The 30,000 volumes of the old library is kep there, mostly with elaborately decorated vellum-bound mastefully crafted books that can be found virtually in the same condition as when placed on the shelves in 1834.
