The protected monument Reformed Church built in the 13th century in the roman-gothic stye is located here. This is where a copy of the complete Bible first translated into Hungarian by Károlyi is guarded and displayed. It is also worth seeing the quary, a geological demonstration site, located near the road leading to Abaújké

The Boldogkő Castle, built on a block of andesite in the 16-17th centuries, is located on the outskirts of the village. The Country House and Regional History Exhibition opened in an old farmhouse, which shows the natural values of the Zemplén Mountains and the history of Boldogkőváralja. The Péchy-Zichy Castle built in 1765 is also found here, and its 6-hectare castle garden enclosed with a stone fence is a protected natural site.

Kőtenger (“Sea of Rocks”), one-of-a-kind geological formations, can be found by the border of Boldogkőújfalu. These are andesite blocks of about 1 meter diameter strewn along a stretch of 2.5 to 3 kms 200 to 250 meters above sea level.

The Bárczay Castle built in the middle of the 18th century in the Rococo style has been tastefully renovated. The recommended attraction in Aranyos (an area belonging to Abaújkér) is the Simándy Memorial Room established in 2003 in memoriam József Simándy, the late Kossuth Prize-winning opera singer.

Encs, the region’s center offers mostly modern attractions, with a pleasant walk in the Millennium Park or a visit to the Holy Patriarchs Greek Catholic Church carrying motifs of Byzantine style and modern architecture. Near Encs, in Gibárt the Gibárt Dam built in 1903 as one of the first on the Hernád River is located, which is now an industrial national monument. The mini power plant, still operating and contributing to the region’s power supply, is Hungary’s oldest Hungarian-built electric power-producing plant in its category. The hydroelectric power plant can be visited with prior arrangement.
