Here you will find the protected monument Christian Reformed Church built in the 13th century in Romanesque-Gothic style. This is where a copy of the complete Bible first translated into Hungarian by Károlyi is guarded and displayed. It is also worth seeing the quary, a geological demonstration site, located near the road leading to Abaújkér.

REGÉC

15 minutes
recommended visit duration: 1 hour

The Regéc Castle built in the 13th century had its golden age during the time of the Rákóczis. It was destroyed in 1686 by General Caprara in fulfillment of a decree issued by Emperor Leopold I, leaving only its ruins to visit for posterity. The castle built on a 624 meter high volcanic cliff is open for visitors only on weekends.

HEJCE

20 minutes
recommended visit duration: 1 – 1.5 hours

This area was a popular hunting ground already with the kings of the Árpád Dynasty. The Louis XVI style Bishop’s Castle was built in the late 1700’s, and the two centuries old stone wall around the castle park and the Baroque stone bridges over the Szerencs Creek represent a special treasure. Unique to the town is its cellar system consisting of over a hundred cellars. A heartbreaking monument is the statue placed in memory of the 42 victims of the Slovak military airplane that crashed here in 2006.
